Add-On Course on Tourism and Travel Management:

The Department of Geography was pleased to announce the Add-On Course on Tourism and Travel Management. This course is designed to familiarise students with the Tourism industry. This course focuses on the Beginning, Evolution & Development of Tourism, its' Significance, and Tourism as an Organization. The course was of 30 hours duration, in which 10 hours of project work was involved. A total of 19 students completed the course after the submission of the project.

Objectives of the course:

The course will encourage students to learn:

1. A conceptual framework of tourism.
2. The fundamental concepts of the Travel and tourism industry.
3. The Tourism Development Strategies with reference to resources Course

Departmental / Club Activities:


1. The Department of Geography and National Tourism Youth Club (NTUC) organised a 1-day Educational Tour to Sanjay Gandhi National Park -SGNP on 30th August 2022. The objectives fulfilled of the educational tour are: Carried out observational survey in the SGNP, Studied the present status of tourism at SGNP, Studied the Flora and Fauna at SGNP, Studied the type of settlements and the occupational status of the Tribals living in SGNP, Visited Archaeological Site of Kanheri Cave, to understand its historical significance.

2. The Department of Geography and National Tourism Youth Club (NTUC) organised a 1-day Educational Tour to Kelwa Beach on 18th March 2023. The objectives fulfilled of the educational tour are: Carried out an observational survey on Kelwa Beach, studied the present status of Tourism at Kelwa Beach, observed the Flora and Fauna at Kelwa Beach, studied the type of settlements and the occupational status near Kelwa Beach. The question is how. Dr Udhav Zarekar, Vice Principal and HOD- Environmental Studies of Jai hind college, was invited for this lecture to enlighten students on this very relevant and real-time issue. He delivered an immensely informative and engaging lecture, and all 67 attendees from all faculties benefited from his expertise.

Applied components


Department also offers Applied component: Demography to second-year students. In the subject of demography, students learn about the various concepts in population studies. The aim of this subject is to generate awareness of the inter‐relationship between development and population. It also highlights demographic techniques and basic sources of demographic data. The subject also studies several aspects of population policy.
